Ski instruction back then…
How it used look

images from the pre-history of American ski instrucion

One of the treasures of my ski book library is an instructtion manual called Ski Fever from 1936. It was given to me by my long-time friend, skier and ski writer extraordinaire Peter Shelton, whose writing has graced the pages of this web site more than once. "Ski Fever was my Dad's Bible," Peter wrote me, "before our first big ski weekend at Big Bear, where reality submerged fantasy."

Here are a few images fom this charnimg book, images from our collective skiers' memory.

I try to answer all emails personally, as soon as I get them. But if I am traveling, it may take a couple of weeks, so please be patient.
